Christ, the Church, and the Glory of God. There are many things that we talk about, teach, discuss, and pursue, but that simple phrase sums it all up. We want to know the living Christ as deeply and fully as possible and see His life expressed in healthy church life. At the end of three of the most important chapters in the New Testament (Ephesians 1-3), Paul gives a summary blessing that points to God’s plan for glory on the earth, “…to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:21) We believe that Christ and the Church is God’s plan for glory on the earth. It is plan A, and there is no plan B.
The more we think about how vast and important our calling is in the Church and in our part here at Christ Fellowship, the more excited we get. We want to know and treasure Christ. We want to see as much of Him and His riches as we possibly can. We want to experience the fullness of Christ that can only be experienced in the church (Ephesians 1:21). And we want to join God’s mission for the church to proclaim the beauty and excellence of Christ to a broken world.
Simply stated, our vision is to share and multiply the life of Christ in the church through new disciples, new LifeGroups (also known as cell groups), new congregations, and new movements to the glory of God and the joy of all people. We believe that God has called us to be part of helping to start 1,000 new churches in the United States and in other nations of the world. Practically, this means ongoing discipleship in our city, raising up new leaders, constantly promoting healthy church life, and believing in the awesome power of God! What a blessing to serve God’s purpose in our generation. (Acts 13:36)
Years ago, we decided that we wanted Christ Fellowship to be marked by certain Basic Values
- Submitting to the Headship of Christ
- Worship – celebrative, reflective, and high
- More and better disciples – healing the broken
- Prayer and intercession
- Releasing everyone to use their spiritual gift(s)
- Unity among believers
- Christ’s life in the church life
- Making things right – justice, relationships, beauty
While we continue to hold to these values, we have simplified them into three simple challenges that we believe reflect Jesus’s heart and teaching. We call these our Core Values.
- Love God
- Love One Another
- Love Those Who Don’t Know Christ
We try to shape our personal lives and our lives together according to these three Core Values. They are our priorities in the way we spend our time and money. We believe that if we order our lives according to them, we will one day hear Jesus say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
